Regardless of when you expect the end of the world to happen - having a preparation list to guarantee your survival is going to be a must.

These days, having an end of the world preparation list is becoming increasingly popular. However, if you want to survive the end of the world, you need to ensure that you have prepared all of the essentials.

Every end of the wold preparation list should include a substantial amount of water and a filtration system, food storage goods, medical supplies, fire starter plus gas, tactical survival gear, protective clothing, as well as an alternative power supply.

Having an end of the world preparation list ready to go was not uncommon before, but now, it seems like more and more people are hopping on this trend - and for good reason. In recent years, we have seen a number of different events unfold that have made many people concerned about the future of the human race - whether it is a natural disaster, a pandemic, or a nuclear holocaust. When you look at it this way, the world can really end any minute, which is why having an end-of-the-world preparation list is simply common sense for so many people out there. With that being said, planning for the end of the world is going to require a little more preparation than your average grocery run. To help you understand this further, we have created a list of essential items for an end of the world scenario.

After thoroughly researching survival strategies for emergency situations, I have been able to gather enough information to create a preparation list for the end of the world. My research has taught me that the most important items to include in your list are those that are going to be absolutely essential for long-term survival.

Preparation List: End of the World

When you consider what you may want to have when the world ends, you really want to focus on one thing - survival. It may be instinctive to include some personal items and goods based on your tastes and preferences, however, these are probably not going to get you through the apocalypse when it comes.

Some people consider having a preparation list for the end of the world to be a precautionary measure that is too extreme to take seriously, but you can assume the fate of such individuals when the end of the world does arrive, as those that are unready for such an event are not going to last.

We have seen scenarios like this come into play and those that are unprepared for the events that arise are left stranded with nothing to rely on in a state of complete panic - grocery stores are empty, medical supplies sold out, and society in total chaos. If you want to avoid joining the masses in this situation, the best thing that you can do to ensure your survival is to be as prepared as possible by having adequate supplies ready to go. Let’s dive into the end of the world preparation list.

Water & Filtration System

Given how necessary water is for our survival, you would think that most people would have a substantial amount of it stored at home in case of an emergency - wrong! Even people who plan for emergencies often overlook the most necessary resource for our survival - water.

When the end of the world comes, you had better believe that your taps are probably not going to be running. That means that you have to create a system for your water intake. There are a couple of ways to approach this, but a wise survivalist would utilize all of them.

To start, you are going to want to have a water tank somewhere on your property (ideally in your backyard or basement). A 550-gallon option like this one is going to be your best bet. This will ensure that you have an adequate amount of water to last you upwards of 6 months to a year - depending on how you ration it. If space is an issue, you can always opt for smaller barrels that you can store with more flexibility.

Next, you should try to have bottles in gallon sizes filled with water scattered in a few locations such as your pantry, basement, or closet. This is just an extra safety measure that you can rely on if (for whatever reason) you cannot access your water tank.

Lastly, the most important thing you can do is have a water filtration system at home. Although having a solid amount of water stored at home is going to be a smart tactic, you are going to have to assume that at one point this supply is going to run out and that you are going to have to filter what you can get your hands. A water filter is going to be essential for this but you can also incorporate the use of water filtration tablets.

Food

Keeping food around the house is going to be a smart choice for anyone looking to survive the apocalypse. Although we do recommend keeping your home stocked with casual food items, you are going to want to think more long-term for the end of the world.

A lot of the normal food items that you keep at home are not going to last you for the long haul. These items will expire and they may also lack the essential nutrients that your body needs for this kind of scenario.

In this regard, you want to have a well-established food storage system ready at your home. The best way to approach this is to think about food that is going to last as long as possible and is not likely to go bad. Instead of thinking weeks and months - you should be thinking years and decades.

You want to focus on food items that are dry and in their purest form. Food items that have moisture, oil, and additives are not going to last for very long, which is why having goods like these are going to be your best bet:

  • Rice
  • Wheat
  • Potato Flakes
  • Powdered Milk

You can incorporate some additional items such as canned goods into the mix, but for a legitimate survival situation, you want to be thinking dry.

Medical Supplies

In this sort of scenario, you can expect hospitals to be out of commission and medical supplies to be scarce and highly valuable.

If a medical emergency (big or small) should happen, you are going to need to have access to supplies to remedy the situation. Having a medical supply bag with an expansive amount of goods to treat various situations is going to be a must if you want to survive the apocalypse.

There are a lot of standardized medical supplies which are going to be essential but, ultimately, you should always incorporate extra goods into your kit the way that you see fit. This is particularly the case if you have medicinal needs that are outside of a common medical kit.

Tactical Survival Gear

When the end of the world comes, you are going to want to be geared up. There are a lot of great tactical survival gear items to consider for your list.

These items will help you get through a lot of different scenarios in this kind of emergency, which is why they should not be overlooked. Let’s take a look at some of the essential items for your list:

  • Rope
  • Flashlight
  • Knife
  • Duffle bag
  • Backpack
  • Shovel
  • Ax
  • Sleeping bag

If you do not have these kinds of items laying around the house, there are plenty of great survival kits that you can utilize, which have the essentials all included. However, if you feel like you want to be more prepared than the average survivalist, don’t be shy about including whatever you feel is necessary.

Power Supply

When the end of the world does hit, having access to power is going to be a problem. In this kind of situation, you want to have a backup source of power so that you can have basic electricity available to you.

Having a generator is going to be an easy go-to in this case. You will want to have a reasonable amount of fuel to get you through the first few months, but ultimately, you can expect this to run out quite quickly, which means that will probably have to scavenge for more later on.

While this is certainly a good option, you should not count on scavenging solely, which is why it is highly recommended that you take advantage of a renewable source of energy like solar or wind. Having solar panels and/or a wind turbine (even a small system) is going to come in handy.

Fire & Cooking

Cooking can get quite complicated when your power is out. You want to ensure that you can eat in this situation and have a reasonable means of preparing your food.

To start, you should have some propane tanks and a stove that you can connect laying around the house. This will give you enough gas to last you a considerable amount of time - if you use it wisely.

However, much like with many survival resources, this one is unsustainable for the long haul. You must have an additional method for cooking that you can rely on indefinitely. A flint fire starter is going to come in handy for your long-term fire needs. Naturally, you will need to cook with something, which is why keeping some firewood on your property is always a good idea.

Protective Clothing

For your end-of-the-world preparation list, you do not want to overlook having some protective clothing that is going to be useful for a wide variety of situations. The standard clothes in your closet are not going to be ideal for the apocalypse, as fashion is going to be a thing of the past.

You can approach this in a few different ways. To start, be sure to have clothes that are weather-resistant, moisture-resistant, and lightweight. You may need to leave your home and find shelter elsewhere at some point, which is why you want to have reliable clothes that are going to be useful and dynamic. This should include the following:

  • Shirts
  • Jacket
  • Coat
  • Pants
  • Shoes

However, depending on the apocalyptic situation that occurs, you may want to go the extra mile by having a gas mask at home, as well as a hazmat suit. At the end of the day, it never hurts to be prepared for the end-of-the-world.
